Welcome to HistoriHelpers Inc.
How boring was your history teacher in high school? We bet a lot of kids fell asleep.
Kids on an average find history to be a boring topic because they feel disconnected.
Who cares about what happened when? And who can memorize all those names and all those dates? Let's face it very few kids are history geeks, but this need not be the case.
Kids respond to connectivity and relevance. If they can get involved in creating or recreating an event, they are more apt to see it's significance. And then of course, more likely to appreciate it's relevance to their every day lives. This is the purpose of HistoriHelpers Inc.
We are a non-profit organization that was birthed out of the need to get our young people to fall in love with the history of their Communities, by getting involved in the restoration and preservation of historical sites, artifacts and historical data. We aim to motivate, encourage and support our young people in the discovery of their heritage, their families, their Communities and ultimately the discovery of themselves. The old adage is true. And that is,
'if we don't know where we came from, it is difficult to know where we're going.'
Too many of our historical sites, artifacts and historical data bases are going to ruins. Vital parts of Communities are being lost because no one is trumpeting their cause. A lot of our Historians have grown older and much of the data is dying along with them. As a result, very little is being passed on to the next generation. And unfortunately what little is passed on is being disregarded mainly because the younger generations are just not as passionate about history.
HistoriHelpers Inc. aims to bridge that gap. We want to bring the thrill of history back to this generation and raise up young men and women who would engage their friends, families and Communities in the preservation of historical sites, records art and data.
With any luck, and of course your support, we hope to ignite a passion in the youth for old things and old people. A passion that would cause them to be excited about rebuilding the historical framework of their Communities one book at a time...one brick at a time.
We encourage you to explore our website. Take a look at the projects we are undergoing. Get involved, volunteer, call or email your ideas to us. Get your kids involved. Be proactive in re-building and reconstructing the beautiful historical relics that are the backbone of your Community.
We need you. And we need your financial support.
So please, make sure to donate to our projects.
We won't be able to do this without you.
Believe in the power of our youth.
